Are you getting a pop up when you open excel asking whether you want the new office add-in?

When an Excel file is used in conjunction with an Office Addin from the MS Store it embeds a reference to the Addin that was used to manipulate the file. In particular it creates a Task Pane reference. The task pane reference can be removed using the Excel inspector as follows:

1. Take a copy of an affected file.

2. Open the copy of an affected file.

3. Click Cancel on the popup.

4. Click on the File menu option at the top

5. Click on Info and under the Inspect Workbook option you should see Task Pane add-ins

6. Click on Check for Issues and choose Inspect Document

7. Click No when prompted if you want to save your file now.

8. On the Document Inspector pane ensure that at least the Task Pane Add-Ins option is selected, then click Inspect at the bottom.

9. Scroll down through the list and you should find the Task Pane Add-Ins showing with an exclamation mark.

10. Click the Remove All option and it should remove the Add-In elements.

11. Close the Document Inspector.

12. Save and close the workbook

13. Reopen the workbook and the popup will be gone!
